Rain at times heavy and strong winds are expected. Locations: Avalon, Burin, and Connaigre Peninsulas.
Total rainfall: 70 to 100 mm, with locally higher amounts possible. Maximum wind gusts: 70 to 80 km/h, with locally higher gusts possible.
Time span: Thursday night to Saturday morning. Similar events in the past have led to: - hazardous driving conditions from water pooling on roadways - road shoulder erosion and washouts - elevated water levels in creeks and streams - delays and cancellations of ferry services Remarks: A low-pressure system is expected to tap into tropical moisture as it intensifies and tracks near or across eastern Newfoundland later this week.

There remains some uncertainty regarding its eventual track, which will affect expected rainfall totals. Rainfall warnings are likely to be issued as the event gets closer and details become more certain.

The Town of Grand Bank is pleased to welcome Mr. Joe Periera to the staff position of Director of Operations and Facilities Management with the Town.
​
Mr. Periera is a native of Grand Bank whose parents, Robert (Bob) and the late Nancy Periera, have lived and worked here for decades. A graduate of John Burke High School, Mr. Periera is also a graduate of the College of the North Atlantic with a three-year diploma in Business Management/Accounting, and a graduate of the Professional Institute of Applied Technology with a diploma in Information System Specialist.

Mr. Periera comes to the Town from Workplace NL where he was employed for the past five years. The Town would like to welcome Mr. Periera and his partner (Catherine) and his two daughters.
